YOUTH IDEATHON 2023 is a 5-stage competition being organised by Management Entrepreneurship Professional Skills Council (MEPSC) under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Govt. of India and ThinkStartup.

History: Started in 2021, YOUTH IDEATHON is India’s most exciting innovation and entrepreneurship competition for school students. The ideathon contest engages with youth to energize them and connect with their passions to discover societal problems and propose solutions that can make lives of humanity better. Its motto is MERA IDEA JO BADAL DE BHARAT, thereby implying, an idea that can change India.

In the 2022 edition, more than 95,000 school students from over 7,000 schools participated.

In 2023, it is expected to generate participation from over 2,00,000 school students from all parts of India – cities, towns, villages, everywhere.

2023 Objective & theme

India’s Largest K-12 School Level Ideas Festival to harness innovation and entrepreneurship potential of young minds of India.

The theme of this event is “iStartup a Good Thing for India”.

Participation details

This is an online event.

For fair representation of schools and students from each region, this year YOUTH IDEATHON shall have regional rounds.

Who can participate

1. YI23 is OPEN for registration for following categories:

a. All Bona-fide School Students from any school board – Central, State or International.

b. Teachers and Mentors of School Students

c. Schools

2. STUDENTS: YI23 is OPEN for all K12 School Students. However, students have to participate in teams of 3 to 5 members. Each member must be a bona-fide school student. YI22 shall reward best teams.

3. TEACHERS / MENTORS: YI23 is also open to all school teachers / mentors. However, a teacher must have a student team who she is mentoring. YI23 shall special rewards for Teachers of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

4. SCHOOLS: YI23 is also open to all Schools from any Board – Central / State / International. There are special rewards for Schools of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, on the basis of student and teacher participation.

Stages: This is a 5-tiered innovation competition with a unique 5th tier that focusses on incubating high-potential student ideas into ventures.

Stage 1: Online Idea Submission on YI23 portal

Stage 2: Select Top 1000 Teams - YouTube Video Pitch

Stage 3: Select Top 100 (10x10) - Team Interview

Stage 4: Select Top 25 for Rs. 10,000 Award

Stage 5: Top 10 for Incubation Grant

Timeline

Shall be launched on 6th October 2023.

Finals shall be held on 18th Nov 2023.

A session for faculty and students on the topic “How to get Good Ideas” will be conducted by the organizers on 11th October, 2023 & 18th October, 2023. Faculty / Students can register for this workshop on the website (www.YouthIdeathon.in).
